In 2010 Congress passed a sweeping new health care reform legislation, the Affordable Care Act, which among other sweeping issues establishes health care exchanges to assist employers and employees to obtain competitive medical care coverage.

Other forms of health care coverage including dental, vision, hearing, chiropractic, etc. are considered supplemental services which the exchanges may also promote as part of their packages.        

Medical coverage is the major employee need. Most large employers offer this benefit; other health care services may or may not be provided by businesses. If they are offered, it may be as a voluntary enrolled health care service.

Recent polls by large employer groups have indicated that the most sought after health care benefit after a comprehensive medical plan is dental coverage. In most survey’s, dental benefits are third behind medical and either term life insurance or a 401k plan.
